Our last leg of our journey is over. We are in Idaho! From Kentucky to Tennessee to South Dakota we witnessed some pretty amazing things and watched as our whole world has been turned upside-down.
Now, more than ever, we know what we must do. God has placed on our hearts to minister to the Body of Christ greatly in this time. We respect the distance and orders the government has set but as Christians we must not live in fear of this. We must still commune with one another and care for each other. One thing we must remember, Christ prayed that we the Body would be unified and care for one another first. It’s been somewhat backwards in how we care for the Body. We think we need to give money, food and shelter to those on the streets who are homeless more than those who are in the church and are suffering just the same but without some of the addictions, vices and demonic holds those who are not believers have. I am in no way saying should we stop ministering to the lost but our priorities must be balanced.
Those who belong to the church should love one another in laying down our lives for each other. This is all throughout 1 John but specifically in 1 John 3:16, “By this we come to know (progressively to recognize, to perceive, to understand) the [essential] love: that He laid down His [own] life for us; and we ought to lay [our] lives down for [those who are our] brothers [in Him].” (AMPC) We’ve twisted the words in the Bible to make us believe that we need to care for the needs of the world before the brethren when this is not true! The same jealousy that God wanted the Jews to feel when the Gentiles were offered salvation is the same that should come to non-believers when they see our LOVE for one another, i.e. believers. This should make them curious and want to come into the Body of Christ because of the love of God overflowing through each of His children for Him and their fellow brothers and sisters.
Now by no means am I saying we should not love our neighbor. This is true but once again I say, our priorities at times have been more for the non-believers forgetting the brethren. This is not biblical. So while we are in Idaho we are caring for the brethren who would receive us to be edified, equipped for every good work in Him and to continue on making disciples. It seems that most of the brethren are weak for lack of personal knowledge of their God because they lack the knowledge of His Word. We need to make true disciples of Christ. No longer counterfeit Christians. It’s either all or nothing.
Jesus is very clear about lukewarm Christians in His letter to the angel of the church of Laodicea. They thought they were good in their walk with God. They were good at just simply saying the prayer of salvation and that be that. But Jesus tells them to repent! Because their care was a selfish one. “Get into heaven, check! Now I will go about my business. Thanks, God” Not so my brothers and sisters. Do not test the Lord your God. Either be hot or be cold. And this is the ministry set before us. To teach the Word of God to the Greeks (the non-believers) and the Pharisee’s and Sadducees (the lukewarm, religious Christians).
In this time of financial uncertainty in no way are we saying to go out and give it all away (unless of course that is what God is telling you to do as He did to many of His disciples and apostles) but we are saying, give because God has asked you to, to whom He has asked you to without regard to what it will cost you. God knows your needs and will take care of them. He knew of them before you even asked and He is cannot lie so He will take care of you if you are faithful to His leading and guiding. (Matthew 6:24-34, 10:29-31) Know who your God is from Genesis to Revelation, He is the same and is the true God who says to us, “Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]” Hebrews 13:5 AMPC
There is no need to fear. And nothing has come to us without going through His filter of love FIRST! So have meekness in this time, understanding that God’s dealing with us in this time is for our good. For our growth in faith and to lean, depend our whole being upon Him. And to love one another without a thought to what we get out of it or how it will make you “feel” good. Do it because you love your Father in heaven and want to please Him. That’s who you stand before in the end, not man. Serve your God this day. Always. And make true disciples of Christ as you continue on.
